When and where do I search?

The most important reference instruments are

for the printed and digital items of our collection there is the catalog of HZI incl. your personal library account (please note: not searchable via library catalogs are chapters or articles - only the whole resource)

The library's collection is indexed and organized via classification schedule, with subject areas that are in case of HZI Library structured in main and sub classes. The terms and classes used in the classification schedule are also used as keywords in the catalog of the HZI library. For example, a search query with the keyword "transformed cells"/ "transformierte Zellen" will bring on display all records that have this term as first or further keyword

Tip:

If you want to perform a search query via basic data e.g. author, title you can use the simple search

For performing a more detailed search query e.g. limited to specific year of publication please use the Advanced Search respectively Katalog-Recherche

for eJournals the integrated EZB/ Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (general information regarding journals you will find here)

for printed journals we offer a list of those a) we subscribed and b) we hold in our journal collection (bounded journal volumes of previous years)

and for finding the databases that match your research topic there is DBIS/ Datenbankinformationssystem

for publications of HZI, HIPS and TWINCORE you can use the publication database

the HZI Open Repository (started in 2006) consists of Open Access publications of the HZI, HIPS and TWINCORE staff.
